"Otherness and Humiliation in International Relations"

For a long time, the study of modern International Relations have been only limited to the western world. But with the globalization of the international game, this classic and western framework suffered to adapt itself to a world which was previously exterior. This hesitating discovery of the otherness has been been a source of tensions and humiliations at the international level which explains the issues the international scene faces nowadays and lead to new types of conflict which are very difficult to solve.

Biography

Bertrand BADIE is a French political scientist and international relations specialist, emeritus professor at Sciences Po Paris. He is one of the most renowned French specialists in international relations. Particularly, he wrote "The Sociology of the State" (1983), "The Imported State" (2000) and "Diplomacy of Connivance" (2012). This lecture is proposed in the context of his last book The Time of The Humiliated (2014).
