Rémy Crassard

Archaeologist and permanent research fellow at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) since 2010, Dr. Rémy Crassard was previously a doctoral fellow at CEFAS Yemen (2004-2007). After obtaining a PhD in Anthropology from Sorbonne University in Paris (2007), he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge (2007-2009). Since 1998, he participated to more than 60 archaeological expeditions, in many countries of the Middle East including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. Specialist of the prehistory of the Arabian Peninsula, he is a permanent member of several international archaeological projects. He was the director of the Globalkites Project (2013-2017) from the French Agency for Scientific Research (ANR) with fieldworks in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Rémy Crassard has been teaching at Universities in France and abroad, and has extensively published in international journals. He was appointed at CEFAS Kuwait in September 2017, as permanent researcher and CEFAS Head of Archaeology.
